Brew guide
How I brew this bag.
A simple pour-over recipe that works with the Monthly Ritual. No special equipment, no complicated ratios.
Pour-over
The recipe
Coffee
15g
Water
250g
Time
3-3.5 min
Grind
Medium-fine, close to table salt. If your cup runs bitter, go coarser. If it tastes thin, go finer.
Bloom
15g of coffee in your filter. Pour 30g of water just off boil over the grounds. Wait 30 seconds. The bed will bubble and puff as the gas releases.
Pour
Pour the remaining 220g in slow, steady circles, keeping the grounds wet. Aim to finish pouring by 2:30.
Drain
Let the water finish drawing through. Total brew time: around 3 to 3.5 minutes. Pour and drink.
French press. Same dose and water. Grind coarser, steep 4 minutes, press slowly.
Drip machine. Use the same 15g per 250g of water your machine holds. Medium grind, standard brew cycle.
Freshness
Check the roast date.
The roast date is on every bag. Give it at least 3 days off the roast before brewing. The first few days it releases a lot of gas, which pushes water away and makes extraction uneven.
After that window opens, brew it within 30 days for the best cup. Ground coffee goes stale faster, so grind right before you brew if you can.
